Bridging the Early Learning Gap: Making the Case for Equitable Schools and Language Readiness in Tanzania is an interactive webinar hosted by the Thrive Programme, Children in Crossfire, and the Tanzania Early Childhood Development Network.
This webinar spotlighted two key themes for Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Tanzania:
● School readiness and equity
● Language readiness for inclusion
The session highlighted Tanzania’s pre-primary education journey since 2016, examining quality challenges that persist. We will explore hidden barriers to school readiness, including the effects of gender, geography, and vulnerability (such as disability and socioeconomic status). We will also discuss language inequity, drawing on evidence from Dodoma, to understand its impact on children’s literacy, numeracy, and overall readiness, and the implications for education equity at scale.
