The programme will do this by designing and delivering a series of research projects, taking an interdisciplinary approach to early childhood development. This will include both short- and medium-term policy pieces and long-term academic research projects. The research will provide insights into challenges and enablers for the delivery and scaling up of early childhood development interventions in different contexts in Bangladesh. The programme will ensure that the lessons learned in Bangladesh are synthesized to improve the global knowledge base on early childhood development, and to help in meeting the major early childhood development challenges faced not only in Bangladesh but regionally and globally.
The initial work will focus on building on and expanding existing early childhood development models, and on delivering short-term policy-relevant research to strengthen the evidence base on early childhood development and engage stakeholders. The team will then use the learning to design and deliver larger-scale research projects which seek to evaluate and strengthen early childhood development systems, policy and interventions.
