This report is a costing study of the first phase of the Kizazi Kijacho (KK, ‘the next generation’) randomised control trial (RCT) of a parenting and unconditional cash transfer (UCT) intervention in the Dodoma region of Tanzania.1 This is a pilot programme that aims to improve early childhood development (ECD) outcomes among children up to 2 years old. The first phase of the pilot (the scope of this costing study) ran from March 2021 to February 2024, when the children in the study were 1 year old on average.
The KK RCT is being implemented in all districts in Dodoma and is targeted at 3,588 families (pregnant women and their newborn children up to the age of 2).
