In this briefing, we share key lessons and recommendations for developing a balanced early childhood development scorecard, based on our experience of working with the National Multisectoral Early Childhood Development Programme (NM-ECDP) secretariat and the Tanzania Early Childhood Development Network (TECDEN).
Background
Tanzania’s National Multisectoral Early Childhood Development Programme (NM-ECDP) is an ambitious five-year programme (2021/22–2025/26) designed to meet a full spectrum of early childhood development (ECD) needs. The government was keen to develop a national multisectoral ECD scorecard (NMECDS) to review performance on key ECD activities and processes every quarter, at different levels of government, to ensure that these were aligned with the strategic goals of the NM-ECDP.
Thrive conducted a rapid scoping exercise and developed a conceptual framework to support the design and development of the NMECDS
