The Ghana Education Service-Lively Minds (GES-LM) programme is an innovative early childhood development parenting programme that supports implementation of the Government of Ghana’s early childhood development policy, which includes a focus on play-based learning and family and community engagement. GES is currently scaling up the programme across several regions in northern Ghana, to reach around 800,000 children by 2027. This briefing provides the findings of a small-scale study on the success factors and barriers to quality implementation of the GES-LM programme, to support GES in its further scale-up. This took place in April 2024 in four districts within two regions.
The study is based on interviews with officials from GES, alongside the NGO Lively Minds, which has supported GES to develop the programme.
