Insights from a rapid literature review to inform the Kizazi Kijacho research programme.
The Kizazi Kijacho (‘The Next Generation’) research programme aims to inform early childhood development policy and practice in Tanzania by testing three packages of interventions designed to support parenting and child development outcomes from conception to age two: a parenting programme delivered by community health workers; an unconditional cash transfer that provides financial support to households; and a combination of both interventions.
These interventions are being examined through an RCT to understand effectiveness, and a process evaluation to understand the feasibility and acceptability of community health worker support for parenting. To inform the process evaluation, a rapid literature review was conducted to identify issues that might affect community health worker support.
