A new report Tanzania’s Childcare Ecosystem: Gaps, Challenges, and Opportunities has been published by the Tanzania Early Childhood Development Network (TECDEN), the African Early Childhood Network and Global School Forum.

The report presents the findings of a comprehensive research study that systematically examined Tanzania’s childcare ecosystem – including inputs from several Thrive studies. The study aimed to develop an evidence-based assessment of childcare services, evaluating their accessibility, distribution, and quality across diverse geographical and socioeconomic contexts. It contributes to ongoing national and global discussions on early childhood development and care by offering a strategic and holistic understanding of the current landscape of childcare provision in Tanzania.

Deogardius Medardi, Thrive Country Research Manager, said: “Thrive is glad to have contributed to the thinking that informed this work and we hope we will contribute to the strengthening of Tanzania’s childcare ecosystem and to advancing the broader dialogue on early childhood development.”
