Bangladesh

Evaluating and strengthening ECD systems, policy and interventions

Thrive Bangladesh seeks to bring together local and international researchers, policymakers and NGOs to strengthen Bangladesh’s approaches to Early Childhood Development.

The programme will do this by designing and delivering a series of research projects, taking an interdisciplinary approach to Early Childhood Development. This will include both short- and medium-term policy pieces and long-term academic research projects. The research will provide insights into challenges and enablers for the delivery and scaling up of ECD interventions in different contexts in Bangladesh, including rural areas, the urban garment industry and the Rohingya community. The programme will ensure that the lessons learned in Bangladesh are synthesized to improve the global knowledge base on ECD, and to help in meeting the major ECD challenges faced not only in Bangladesh but regionally and globally.

  • The initial work will focus on building on and expanding existing ECD models, and on delivering short-term policy-relevant research to strengthen the evidence base on ECD and engage stakeholders. The team will then use the learning to design and deliver larger-scale research projects which seek to evaluate and strengthen ECD systems, policy and interventions.
